The 'local know-how project' is being conducted in a partnership between researchers in the UBC School of Nursing and community leaders from the 'N a m g is First Nation in Alert Bay. Our goals in this project are to enlist local knowledge to design and test the effectiveness of health actions that may enhance health among the youth and the elders of this community.

I was ecstatic to be accepted into the PhD program at the School of Nursing at UBC as it is a renowned nursing PhD program in Canada. Pursuing and acquiring a graduate degree provides me with the tools necessary to carry out research that can improve the lives and wellbeing of families and to mobilize this knowledge for public benefit. Hey guys, I'm really nervous about applying to UBC Nursing because I know how competitive the Nursing field is . I feel a lot of pressure because my dad was against me going into nursing at first (wanted me to be something 'more' like a doctor or pharmacist) and if I don't get in to a nursing school it will be an extra big slap in the face!
